Youth Enrichment League Classes

Youth Enrichment League is offering many free online classes relating to Chess, Fencing, and Lego Brick Builders.  More classes are currently in development.  Click here for a full schedule of activities for the coming weeks and months. 

Celebrate Shakespeare's Birthday!

Happy birthday to the bard! April 23, 2020 marked the celebration of Shakespeare's 456th birthday.  This is always a fun day at Parnassus Check below for fun videos and activities from the Parnassus staff and more that we used to celebrate this special day!

  • Magistra Neimeyer & Magistra Gottwalt sing "Happy Birthday" to Shakespeare
  • Magister Mathews performs Mark Antony's "Friends. Romans, countrymen" from Julius Caesar
  • Ms. Rossi performs Lady Macbeth from Macbeth
  • ​Ms. Westrich and Ms. Rossi perform fight scene from A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • ​Magistra Towell performs "Tomorrow" from Macbeth​ 

Get Creative and Have Fun
  • Learn how to make a ruff out of coffee filters so you can dress like one of Shakespeare's characters!
  • Print out and assemble this free paper model of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
  • Turn a pencil or crayon into a quill pen with this free printable from Crayola
  • Color Will himself on this free printable coloring page
  • Color the characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream
  • Memorize one of these kid-friendly sonnets
  • Test your knowledge of Elizabethan language and words coined by Shakespeare with these word jumbles from the Folger Shakespeare Library
Watch a performance of a play:
  • The UK's National Theatre is performing Twelfth Night beginning at noon on April 23rd.
  • Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is streaming a free performance each week; this week's is Romeo and Juliet
  • PBS is streaming Macbeth along with other selections from their Great Performances collection, including Much Ado About Nothing.

  • Shakespeare's Globe Theatre is offering a free virtual tour
  • ​Stratford-upon-Avon, Shakespeare's hometown, had to cancel their normal festivities but the town's Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust is providing free online activities for children ages 4 and up
